Back by popular demand, the Hualālai 'Ohana Foundation is proud to announce plans for our Summer 2022 program at Kalaemano. Coordinated in partnership with 'Imiloa's Hālau Lamakū Program, this two-week 'aina-based enrichment camp welcomes keiki entering Grades 1 through Grade 5 daily from 8am to 3pm Monday-Friday July 18-29 at no cost to eligible applicants. All snacks and lunches are generously sponsored by the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort Food & Beverage department.
Hālau Lamakū honors lama, a native dry forest tree that grows in Hawai‘i and nowhere else in the world. Lama signifies “light” or “enlightenment” that evokes learning, knowledge, and understanding. Explorers will engage in activities, crafts, games, outdoor exploration, observation grounded in Hawaiian culture, science, math, engineering, and art.
During this week of Hālau Lamakū, young explorers will discover traditional surfing styles, traditional surfboards, and learn about surfing in Hawai‘i, past, and present. Investigate the lives of the various species awe-inspiring colors, patterns, and iridescence live among the reef environments that surround our island home.
Together, we'll discover the different components that make up this area and the amazing plants that live in this ahupua'a.
Hālau Lamakū welcomes young explorers to join us on an epic adventure and discover the land of the setting sun.
