'Ohana@Home Technology for Education Kokua Award

About the Award

The Hualalai ‘Ohana Foundation is proud to present a new opportunity to help empower Hualalai employee families transition smoothly to a remote learning environment as the school year begins in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. 


This award is for families who need additional technology support at home in the form of computers, routers, printers and accessories to support remote learning.  If eligible, you may receive support in the form of gift cards to your local Office Max/Office Depot to purchase the items that best support your needs.  


Eligibility Guidelines:

  • Household combined income cap of $195k per year.
  • 1040h minimum (Part Time)
  • 1 year of work at Hualalai prior to March 28, 2020 COVID-19 closure.
  • Eligible applicants include Hualalai Resort employees with school-aged keiki grades K-12 as of the 2020-2021 academic year. College students and adult lifelong learners who are either employees of Hualalai Resort or immediate family members with verification of enrollment at an institution of higher learning are also encouraged to apply. 
  • Previous 2019 HOF Computer Award recipients who received a computer in 2019 or who have already received an 'Ohana@Home Technology for Education award are not eligible. 
  • Award value is $500 per household of up to 2 children.  Households with more than 2 dependent children will be awarded an additional $100 per child in qualifying age group. 
  • Limited number of need-based awards are available.  Number of awards distributed is based on availability of funds, applicant's personal statement, and determination of need.  Applications are not guaranteed an award.  


Additional Information:

Gift cards will be personalized and redeemable by recipient only.  Gift card cannot be transferred to another recipient or family member.  Recipient must show id to verify. 


Gift card is valid at Office Max/Office Depot Stores on Hawaii Island / Kailua-Kona. The gift card is redeemable for up to $500 in value in the form of a computer, a printer and/or a wireless router. 


Any surplus of funds can be used for accessories supporting a computer, printer or wireless router (mouse, keyboard, headphones, laptop case, etc…).
